The library's eBook collection in Overdrive has many benefits over the normal print collection. The ability to check out books while the library is closed helps out when you can't find the time to come to the library. But what happens when the library is closed and your device does not want to behave?
The best way to get help with eBooks and audio books in Overdrive is to use a personal computer or Mac. This is because the Overdrive website has plenty of videos that work well on larger screens, and you may watch and look at your device while you attempt to find the problem. If you need to use your tablet or phone, though, you can.
The first thing you want to do is go to the Overdrive webpage. You can do so by going to http://terrebonne.lib.overdrive.com/ or by using the library's website (mytpl.org) and using the menus.

Once you've made it to the Overdrive page for the E-Library Co-Op of Southeastern Louisiana, click on the question mark labeled "Help" near where it the "Menu" and "Account" options are.
From that menu, simply click on "Overdrive Help" to be taken to Overdrive's help site.
There, at the top of the page is a choice for "Devices." If you hover over that, you should see a list of devices compatible with the Overdrive app. Find your device and click on it.
Once you have chosen a device, you will be taken to that devices help page. The most useful information right off the bat will be found at the bottom and be labeled "Getting Started with" your device. We recommend reading and watching the article and videos to make sure your device was set up properly.
If you have any other questions about ebooks, please call the reference desk at (985) 876-5861, Option 2 or come to our Introduction to eBook classes. The next classes in 2015 will be August 12, September 16, and October 8.
