SAGA: Stitch By You

The Stitch By You Chapter of the Smocking Arts Guild of America (SAGA) has a display of hand-made and hand-embroidered clothing featured in the display cases on the second floor of the Main Library at 151 Civic Center Blvd. The group's stated mission is to "preserve and promote the art of needlework."

Donna Darda

The display, mostly children's clothing, represents work of only this chapter, which has members as far away as Vacherie, though the parent organization, SAGA, is nationwide. The Stitch By You group meets at the Main Library the second Monday of each month from 9:30 am until noon. Chapter President Donna Darda says beginners and those wishing to learn to sew, smock and embroider are welcome to inquire. The display will be up until the end of February.

For more information about SAGA and Stitch By You, call 985-655-2012 or 985-532-3185.
