We've talked about ways to beat the heat this summer with the library's eservices. We talked about Flipster and Axis360, now let's talk about Freading.
Freading offers thousands of books that are available anytime, no waiting lists needed. While this option is similar to our current eBook offerings in Overdrive, Freading’s contents focus on smaller publishers. Don’t let this fool you; there are a great variety of items available.
This service allows for three books to be downloaded each week. At the beginning of the next week, Monday, the count is reset unless there are books "checked out" which roll over. Books are "checked out" from Freading for two weeks at a time with the option for renewals. Books cannot be returned once they are downloaded, so choose wisely. Apps are available for iPhone and Android devices in their respective app stores.

To use Freading, you need three things:
- A computer or smartphone or tablet (to download the Freading App)
- An Adobe ID
- A Terrebonne Parish Library Card
Freading App
You can use Freading on a computer without downloading an app or creating an Adobe ID.
However, if you wish to use Freading on the go with a mobile device, such as a tablet or smart phone, you need to use the app.
For iPhones, iPads, and iPods, download the Freading app from the iTunes store here.
For Android phones and tablets, download the Freading app from the Google Play Store here.
Freading also uses Adobe to protect it's books. You will have to create an Adobe ID to sign into an app. You can do that here.
If you already have an Adobe ID, you can skip this step.

If you already have an Adobe ID, you can skip this step.
Library Card
Your library card number is the long string of digits under the bar code on the card.
You will also need your PIN, which is your birthday in six digits. For example, if your birthday was August 15, 2016, your PIN will be 081516.
Downloading books
Once you have signed in to an app, you now have access to Freading's library. As stated above, you can download three books a week that stay on your account for two weeks. There is an option to renew (redownload) books, but there is no option to return the books, so choose wisely.
